Oriental Medical Wisdom · Sino-US Cooperation, Chinese Traditional Medicine and Culture Exploration Camp (2026 Fall, Hangzhou Medical College)

Overview

Ever wondered how medicine, wellness, and daily life fit together in China? Spend seven unforgettable days in Hangzhou — the city Marco Polo called "beyond compare," home to West Lake and a 1,700-year-old Buddhist temple — and see for yourself how ancient Chinese healing traditions meet modern hospital care at a real Chinese medical university.

Hosted by the International Affairs Office of Hangzhou Medical College (HMC), this short-term program is designed for American students and young professionals who want more than a checklist tour. You will learn from HMC faculty, shadow clinicians at Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital, live alongside Chinese student buddies, and walk West Lake at dusk — all in a small, supportive cohort of just 15 participants.

Camp Highlights

  • Dive into TCM. A hands-on traditional therapy workshop, a herbal culture lecture, and making your own Chinese herbal sachet, guided by experienced HMC faculty.

  • Feel the culture. Try a wushu session, join a Chinese film screening, and discuss what you see with your Chinese peer buddies.

  • Step outside. Hike misty Nine Creeks through Longjing tea terraces, walk the ancient Lingyin Temple, and explore West Lake's classical gardens.

  • See modern Chinese medicine. Visit Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital, our affiliated tertiary teaching hospital, to see how Chinese clinicians practice today.

  • End with purpose. Complete a small group project, present what you have learned, and receive an official certificate at the closing ceremony.

No rushed bus rides. No checklist sightseeing. Just seven days of asking, doing, tasting, and talking.
